A group of four University of Calgary students including Cochrane’s own Eric Scott who comprise the band called The Twenty are exposing Cochranites to a rare form of jazz.

Killarney’s Pub is set to recognize iconic Scottish poet on Jan. 20, with a pub crawl and dinner. Pub owner Dominic Hickey said he decided to host the event because it was very popular with the people who attended last year.

The Town of Cochrane will be hosting a ClubHouse Art Walk on Jan. 13. The art walk will be used as a chance for local artists to show and sell their work, and for Cochrane art lovers to meet the artists and learn about their creations.

Cochrane High School’s drama class will be presenting its annual play on Jan. 16.

Chinook Film Group is ready to roll with its Winter Series Kickoff Reception following the screening of The Trip To Spain on Jan. 17 at the Cochrane Movie House.

Brad Muise and local host Brett Forte will be at the Venue Bar and Grill on Jan. 9 for another fantastic comedy show all a part of the Venue’s ‘Laugh Out Loud’ Comedy Night. Muise, is originally from Cape Breton, NS.

The recently opened Rebel Comics is inviting enthusiasts and those wanting to try the popular Magic The Gathering card game to its weekly game nights every Friday.

Local drum circle facilitator Marilyn Maclean is organizing community-wide drum circles to give residents an outlet to express themselves in a safe environment. Drum circles are a group of people playing hand-drums and percussion in a circle.

Killarney’s Pub hosted its first Christmas Market on Dec. 9 and 10, in an act to give locals a chance to buy that last minute gift, as well as bring more attention to the pub in general.

The Cochrane Music Society will be hosting its 2017 Music of Christmas concert on Dec. 14. The Music Society is a non-profit organization, which was formed back in 1999 by parents of children who were in the school music program.
