A recent editorial in the Cochrane Eagle (“Should the town ban pesticides?” June 29) hits the mark. Residents are understandably concerned about the non-essential application of chemical pesticides.

Council Approves GRASP Amendments (Rocky View Weekly, July 4, 2017) The last sentence of the above noted article states: “Lowther’s (i.e.- Councillor Eric Lowther) amendments to the plan were carried by a vote of 8-1, with opposition from Coun.

On June 13th, at the same time as Rocky View Council approved a delay to the Aggregate Resource Plan, it opened the flood gates for gravel applications to rush through under what they acknowledge are weak existing performance standards.

In reference to the June 29 editorial, “Should the town ban pesticides,” I am a horticulturalist and a journeyman landscape gardener with 35 years experience maintaining public spaces in Alberta. A ban on cosmetic pesticides is long overdue.

It was a real pleasure to be at the Royal Canadian Legion on Monday night to hear Brian Jean and Jason Kenney outline the work that has been done in the past year to unite Alberta's conservative parties and to discuss their hopes for the opportunity

I wish to respond to the in box comments of Alan Spiller in the Cochrane Eagle June 22, 2017 edition. Mr. Spiller's vague fear mongering comments seem to confuse socialism with conservatism.

I read the article We must rethink development on page 18 of the Cochrane Eagle dated June 1 written by Coun. Morgan Nagel. I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am by this young councillor.

I too live in Glenbow, backing on the Big Hill Creek and the pathway. Footstock took over for two days and it was terrific. The letter last week really bothered me and I'm sure the people involved in Footstock.

Thanks to MD of Rocky View on its recent vote toward the proposed Glenbow Ranch Area Structure Plan (GRASP). Rocky View County staff have worked hard and held many presentations regarding the GRASP.
