If I was to pray for wisdom, it would be to be able to approach this subject with sensitivity and compassion. Any lie told for long enough and loud enough will begin to take root in our society, especially amongst those who want it to be truth.

I want to personally thank Tim Giese and Andrew Watson for helping me organize the Cochrane Wide Clean Up. This has been in planning for a while and something that I have wanted to see done in Cochrane for the past year.

I want to thank you and your editorial board for being brave enough to to take this stance publicly. I was truly heartened by your article; I'm sure you've touched many people by writing this editorial.

After attending the public meetings, listening to all the parties remarks and looking at the development potential of the Agriculture Society property I have made a few conclusions. Here are my predictions.

There is a social injustice about to happen this June in Cochrane unless we, the people, intervene. The councillors for Rocky View County plan to sell the 148 acres the Agricultural Society has leased for 30 years.

The town council’s capricious decision making reached a new level these past couple of weeks. It passed a bylaw banning the inclusion of garburators in newly-constructed homes. The usual “it will be good for the environment” was the reason.

I have worked for the City of Calgary in the wastewater industry for nearly 24 years, and I would like to clarify a few points around the discussion of garburators and their impact on wastewater.

At our last town council meeting we banned garburators from Cochrane. Banning garburators in Cochrane was a ridiculous decision. This ban was motivated by a belief that reducing waste in our sinks would be good for the environment.
