Town of Cochrane CAO Julian deCocq updated council on the progress of the town’s 2013 Strategic Plan Oct.

Dr. Judith Samson-French, veterinarian at Banded Peak Veterinary Hospital, recently returned from the Caribbean island of Curacao where she was taking a closer look at the overpopulation of street dogs on the island.

There will be two new faces on Rocky View County council for the next four years. Division 2 candidate Jerry Arshinoff was elected Oct. 21 with 562 votes and Division 9 candidate Bruce Kendall is now a member of council with 387 votes.

Ivan Brooker is Cochrane’s newly elected mayor, and will lead a new council made up of Jeff Toews, Tara McFadden, Ross Watson, and newcomers Mary Lou Davis, Morgan Nagel and Gaynor Levisky.

Wild Rose Member of Parliament Blake Richards had the third highest expense claim in the House of Commons this year. For the year beginning April 1, 2012 and ending March 31, 2013, Richards’ expenditure report indicates he spent $547,510.
